Ever wanted to get in to artist book making? This one day workshop in my Katoomba studio will be a great introduction to the beautiful art of Japanese bookbinding and to learn some creative skills and techniques for bookmaking. It will be a relaxing and fun day during which I will be guiding you through the steps and techniques to make three bespoke notebook /journals in different sizes, each with a different decorative Stab Binding technique.
I'll also be showing some of my artist books and projects and how I integrate book making into my writing & visual creative practice. We will begin the day with some creative painting, printing and collage techniques to create cover papers to make each of your journals truly unique. I will outline and explain the tools and materials for artist book / book making & binding and show you how to make tools from affordable, readily available materials.
There will of course be time to relax... we will take a well earned break at half time to socialise over a home cooked, vegetarian lunch. Just bring yourself and a friend* (see discount price for 2 or more below ). I supply all the required paper, art supplies, tools & materials. You will finish the day with a swag of new ideas and skills as well as three unique, hand made journals to use yourself or to give to special people as gifts.
All materials & a light vegetarian lunch /tea/coffee included in the price.
Please note: If you have any allergies or dietary preferences, please bring your own lunch, snacks & refreshments. Access to the studio has some stairs and no wheelchair access, so may not be suitable for people with mobility issues.
Class size is limited to 6 people max. so book now to ensure a confirmed place.
