This is the second Black & Blue exhibition presenting creative responses from over 20 artists & writers to a suite of stories on the theme of the dark history, myths & legends of the Blue Mountains. In this volume, the focus widens from social history to tragedies of environment, fire & wildlife.

About the event

Black & Blue Vol.2 opens at BMCC Gallery in Katoomba on August 29th, 2020, bringing the second instalment in an exhibition project that combines text and image responses and historical displays borrowed from a collection at Mt Vic Museum to a suite of dark themed stories from the Blue Mountains. The exhibition theme was authored by Blume's director Faye Wilson who is also the creative director and project coordinator for the show. Black & Blue widens the focus of the first exhibition in 2014 at BMCC from social history to include stories of tragedies on the regions' flora, fauna and environment.

The exhibition includes the work of artist illustrators; James Gordon, Jude Martinez, Beth Norling, Tohby Riddle, Michael Robinson, Nancy Sarno, Mandy Shoene-Salter, Michel Streich, Marty Walker, Faye Wilson and writers; Craig Billingham, Emma Brazil, Stuart Clark, Brendan Doyle, Kate Fagan, Kathy Hale,Vanessa Kirkpatrick, Michell Rickerby, Peter Minter, Mark O’Flynn, Annabel Pettit
